I almost can’t believe that in a week it will be a year since my baby Jamilah was born.
In celebration we are hosting a Dora the Explorer themed
party, she gets excited whenever she hears any of those Dora songs and even I already
know them by heart. How could I not it’s all we watching these days, I sometimes
find myself singing ‘backpack backpack’ and ‘we did it, we did it, we did it
YEAH, oh we did it’ at my desk whilst coding...
ahh the joys of motherhood.
Jamilah was born on Thursday 6th September at
9:50am it was an overcast day and the movie based on Steve Harvey's 2009 book
Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man was on the TV in the labour room. I was in so
much pain but excited still and when she was born I couldn’t stop saying
Algamdulilah I must have said it about 10 times LOL and her father joined in,
my gynaecologist and the midwife smiled. I sure they know that word all too
well by now. Her daddy videoed the event but I’m writing this from memory because
no-one ever forgets those precious memories.
In the 12 month since then there’s been countless unforgettable
moments just like those. She was beautiful since day one and always had a smile
on her face, the name we chose was so appropriate. We named her Jamilah after
her dad’s late sister. Her 1st word was dada for daddy at 9 months At
11 months her vocabulary consist of Dora, Backpack, Up, Down, Daddy, Mummy and that’s
in order of preference too LOL.
At 10 months she shocked us all when she got up and decided
to start walking, since then she’s become quite the explorer herself.
Jamilah is so loved, I can’t
imagine our life without her. May All Mighty Allah grant us many more years together as a family Insha Allah and may she always be the coolness of our eyes. May she stay strong and healthy and may she grow up to be a good muslim of pure heart and the best character. May she surround herself with nothing but good Insha Allah Ameen.
